Some of you may be aware that my other half and father to (9) and (5) is none other than the very talented Tristan Luker. A self taught Photographer from Kent who manages to capture the pure beauty in Architecture and Landscapes. Known for showing iconic buildings at abstract angles, as well as the bright colours of the urban London hipster scene.
I took the opportunity to ask him a series of questions about his photography, find out what he had to say below…
What type of camera do you use?
Fuji X100T or iPhone 8 for that impromptu picture.
What made you fall in love with photography?
I guess that it started from my school days, it was a way of opening my creative mind. It gives me that drive and ambition to see things from a different/altered perspective. I enjoy making my mind think about the different angles and structure of the buildings in an image. I like the quirkiness of it.
I know all your work is self taught have you ever considered studying and becoming a photographer full time? or is this just a hobby?
In ideal world it would be great to study photography and improve. If the opportunity presents itself to study something I am passionate about then it would be too good an opportunity to miss. In regards to whether it’s a hobby or something I would love to do full time, I’d have to say it would be great to do something I’m passionate about for a living but I guess that is in the hands of those who like my pictures.
Is there a particular building that you love to capture?
No, not really, just anything that catches my eye and is visually striking. Obviously the more well known the building the more popular it is amongst my followers.
If you could take your camera anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to go back to New York or the Far East to either Japan or Singapore. There are so many cities I would like to see even just in Europe it makes it hard to narrow it down to just one place.
You have a good following on Instagram, and often get over 300 likes a day. What’s next for you?
I really don’t know, it has taken a lot of hard work to achieve what I have to date. As long as people like and enjoy my images I’m happy.
Ideally I guess I would like to grow the business side, this is something that requires the feedback of my followers and supporters. I have recently been working on stocking my Etsy store and putting feelers out for craft fayre’s and market stalls.
