Romantic Trip for Two

So, my first post is about a recent trip to Amsterdam. It was a trip booked by my partner as a surprise for Christmas. Our first break away as a couple without the boys. Let’s just say it was well needed, being a step parent is not always easy and it does take its toll on any relationship.

We left first thing on Boxing morning for two nights – three days. We were staying at the Sir Adam Hotel. If like us you rely on Google maps to find places then just ignore the directions given and find it the old fashioned way.  Once we finally arrived to the right destination we were greeted by a very friendly guy on the Hotel reception. We were able to check in straight away which was perfect as it was all before 10am.

We were even upgraded rooms to a deluxe room with River views. I even had my bags carried to our room.

The room was superb, it was love at first sight,  I can only describe the room as quirky cool with a “hipster” vibe. Every room came equipped with a record player and a selection of records, you could also browse the library in the Hotel lobby for records more suited to your taste, something I wish we had explored more. The bed was comfy and had a choice of pillows from soft to firm. I fully enjoyed the softer pillows, it was like laying you head on the Angels, and trust me after walking for over 12 miles the bed is super inviting.  The rainfall shower was again out of this world, as were the Dead Clean products, if I didn’t have just hand luggage I would have purchased some from the Hotel reception.  Every little details was thought of in the Sir Adam Hotel. I could of asked for a better place to stay on our romantic getaway.

Just down the elevator (the disco one is best) you arrive at The Butcher Social club and this is the only place to eat if you are looking for amazing burgers. I would recommend having The Cowboy. Not only does The Butcher do great burgers, it is also a great hangout spot. There are board games a plenty as well as retro arcade games to relive your childhood. The staff were also very friendly and inviting.

I loved our time in Amsterdam it was a great chance to fall in love with each other all over again as well as fall in love with such a beautiful city.  As much as we both missed the children, the break just showed us how much we miss time for just us. We had got too caught up in family life.  We did all the things we wanted and more, however there is still so much more for us to see (another excuse to go back to the Sir Adam Hotel).

I would recommend going on the Heineken brewery tour, Body Worlds and the A’dam Lookout with the swing, which was actually located at the top of our Hotel.

I couldn’t recommend the Sir Adam enough, it truly set the tone of our break, Thank you to all the staff that made this an incredible stay.  I left part of my heart in Amsterdam and Sir Adam and I can’t wait to return. Ideally in the summer when it’s not raining and ice cold.
